About Us

A fan-favourite and an absolute messiah from the lockdown era, Swiggy is an online platform that delivers various essentials right to your doorstep. Be it food, groceries, utensils, or a range of other services—name it, click on it—lo and behold, it arrives!

Operational in over 580 Indian cities, Swiggy’s impressive scale speaks volumes about its popularity and reach. But, like many successful ventures, its journey started with a slightly different vision. Back in 2011, Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy, the minds behind Swiggy, launched an e-commerce website called Bundl. Their goal? To simplify courier services and shipping within India. However, they soon realised that the logistics sector was quite fragmented and challenging. This prompted them to explore other avenues where their tech-driven logistics expertise could make a real difference.

In 2014, they had their 'aha' moment. Recognising the massive potential of India's burgeoning food delivery market, Majety and Reddy decided to pivot. And thank goodness, they followed through! They brought Rahul Jaimini, formerly with Myntra, on board. Together, they rebranded Bundl as Swiggy, setting the stage for what would become a household name.

Initially, Swiggy focused solely on food delivery, partnering with restaurants in Bengaluru to connect them with hungry customers. Their user-friendly app and reliable service quickly caught on. By 2015, they had expanded to eight major cities across India. This rapid growth coincided with a period of upheaval in the food delivery sector, with several competitors struggling to stay afloat. Swiggy's resilience and customer-centric approach helped them navigate these turbulent times and emerge as a leader in the market.

Swiggy's success story is much more than just food delivery. Over the years, they've strategically expanded their offerings to become a comprehensive "everything" platform:

1. Swiggy Instamart allows you to order groceries and daily essentials - promising swift deliveries from a network of dark stores.

2. Swiggy Genie is your personal delivery assistant - facilitating the pick-up and drop-off of packages, documents, and more.

3. Swiggy Dineout, acquired in 2022 - helps you easily discover great restaurants and book tables.

Swiggy's commitment to innovation is also evident in its ventures beyond customer-facing services. In 2017, it launched "The Bowl Company," a cloud kitchen chain, and "Swiggy Access," a kitchen incubator program, to support its restaurant partners. It even briefly ventured into general product deliveries with Swiggy Stores but later consolidated its efforts under Instamart.

Swiggy's story is a testament to the power of adaptability, innovation, and a laser focus on customer experience. From a small startup in Bengaluru to a public company with a multi-billion dollar valuation, Swiggy's founders have truly transformed the landscape of online services in India.
