About Us

The driving force behind Solinas lies in a simple yet profound motivation: tackling a problem that affects billions but often escapes the spotlight. The co-founders chose water and sanitation—a sector where technology has rarely been a focus.

The story begins with co-founder Divanshu Kumar’s final year project at IIT Madras. Initially, it was a robotic solution aimed at cleaning septic tanks. But mistakes are unavoidable. With his limited experience, he built on previous students’ work- creating a prototype for sewer lines instead. When manual scavengers dismissed his prototype as a "toy" not based in reality, Divanshu experienced a turning point. He became deeply invested in understanding the realities of the field. What began as a college project transformed into a mission-driven, market-ready solution.

Thus, Solinas was born. Co-founded by Divanshu Kumar, Bhavesh Narayani, Moinak Banerjee and Linda Jasline, Solinas embarked on a mission to eliminate manual scavenging. How? With India’s 1st septic tank/manhole cleaning robot.

Their products encompass diagnostics, cleaning, and preventative/predictive solutions transform India's overall underground asset management.  Their endoscopy robots go into pipelines to diagnose problems. Their cleaning robots to tackle the hard sludge in septic tanks. And their cloud-based software, SWaM, uses AI to prevent problems. They even developed Asia’s smallest robot, capable of entering pipes as narrow as 90 mm.

Their flagship products, though technical marvels, are only part of the story. It’s the people behind Solinas that make it stand out. The team operates with a mix of practicality and optimism. They know that tackling India’s water and sanitation challenges isn’t glamorous, but do it with a contagious energy. It really is not about getting rich, but genuinely doing something for the well-being of the Indian people. Solinas is more than a sanitation startup- It’s a testament to what can happen when you combine passion with purpose.
