About Us

Meet Mindgrove Technologies, India’s very own System on Chips (SoCs) company that didn’t even think about microprocessor manufacturing before starting out. It all began when Sharan and Shashwath wanted to venture into the world of vision hardware and building radars/cameras for scientific instruments. For that, the two needed to solve the problem of obtaining the right processor. Now, in theory, it wasn’t a big deal. They knew that what they needed had to have a set of features, fit within their budget and, of course, be available. But practically? It was impossible to find one in the market. Distraught, they went to their guide and mentor, Professor V.Kamakoti, the current Director of IIT Madras, for a solution. Where on earth could they procure the needed processor from?

To which Professor Kamakoti, with the utmost sincerity, said - “It’ll come when you make it.”

Then, he proceeded to continue working at his desk. At that moment, perhaps none of the 3 knew those simple words would become the starting point for the epic journey of innovation that Sharan and Shashwath were about to embark upon.

Professor Kamakoti and his team at IIT Madras were already exploring building an indigenous microprocessor using the RISC-V instruction set architecture. With that as a basis, and after being incubated under IIT Pravartak Technologies Foundation, Mindgrove was able to obtain the necessary license to obtain the required resources at reasonable prices. And well, the rest is history.

Based in Chennai, Mindgrove is creating feature-rich, high-performance chips with security built in. These SoCs are perfect for tomorrow's connected applications and utilise the SHAKTI open-source processor program. They now provide cost-effective and dependable next-generation technology to diverse sectors like IoT, vision, analytics, AI inferencing, and signal processing.
